The 9 Universal Month in the 5 Universal Year: Enlightment and Freedom Comes From Forgiveness and Moving On

Greetings folks!

Before I start with our April analysis, I'd like to apologize for missing the March forecast. There was a death in the family in mid-February. I was exhausted for several weeks afterward, so I'm sorry for leaving you without any March analysis. I'm getting back into the swing of things, though.

And on that note- let's look forward!

As I say every month: if you're new to this blog series, please check out this post first to better define the 5 Universal Year. What I'll be discussing are numerology influences on a larger scale. We see these influences in our headlines and the changing attitudes of the masses. They are different from our own individual Personal Years, which we feel on a far more personal level. The Universal Year indicates the lessons all of humanity may be learning as a whole.

We leave March and the 8 Universal Month in the dust, and now we roll head-first into the heralding of April and the correlating 9 Universal Month. What are some of the qualities this new 9 vibe brings?

  • Focusing on the good of the whole

  • Adopting an open, broadminded, humanitarian approach with other people and life's problems

  • Being compassionate

  • Releasing whatever has run its course and has fulfilled its purpose

  • Contemplating what we've learned. Assessing our lessons.

  • Practicing forgiveness. Choosing to be wise

  • Practicing detachment. Cultivating coolness

  • Wrapping things up in anticipation of starting new chapters in the following month

  • Reaping rewards for the hard work we've done since the last 1 Universal Month

Remember, in numerology, phases of time run in cycles of 1 through 9. Let's use gardening as a metaphor. Under the 9 vibration, the crops have been harvested, lovingly cooked, shared, and distributed to the hungry. The garden has evolved into a community garden entirely devoted to sustaining the entire population. Once the good has been served, it's time for the soil to rest. The ground freezes, breaking all bonds with its previous roots. It finds peace in this slumbering limbo, knowing that it will soon be tilled to birth new produce.

The 9 falls on the Spiritual Plane of Expression, whereas the 5 resides on the Physical Plane. So, how might the sagacious 9 blend into the boisterous, free-wheeling 5 Universal Year?

Well, it just so happens these two numbers share some important commonalities.

  • Both the 5 and the 9 share a zealous, fervent streak a mile wide. Each one is an energetic powerhouse that thrives on adventure and doesn't take too kindly to being held back.

  • Speaking of being held back, both numbers flourish when they let go of old hurts, wounds, and other heavy stuff. They don’t like being weighed down, so they often practice the skill of letting things go.

  • They both enhance the urge for travel and expanding one's horizons. In youth, 5s and 9s are often drawn to the idea of joining organizations like the Peace Corps. In later years they may gravitate toward "voluntourism"- the 5 because it loves to exert its physical energy in new surroundings, and the 9 because it desperately longs to contribute and make a positive difference.

  • Both lack practicality. They tend to believe things work themselves out in the long run, so they are risk-takers. That's not a bad quality, per se. However, they don't always stop to take honest assessments. Between the 5's spontaneity and the 9's naivety, these two could easily be led off a cliff or stranded at sea without more grounded people, rules, and influences firmly at the helm.

So, what should we do to maximize the harmonious possibilities of this worldly combo?

  • First of all, try not to take things personally because the 9 isn't about us as individuals. It's about ALL of us. The 9 says, "It's time to practice mercy. Let go of grudges. Life is too short." After all, the 9 is the number of endings. For example, have you been frustrated and angered by others' behavior during the pandemic? (I know I have.) The 9 says, "Okay. You are entitled to your reactions. Now, it's time to move beyond them. Transmute your frustrations into forgiveness- and if that's currently impossible, develop the skill of detachment. You can't let this have a hold on you any longer."

  • Look back to June 2020. That was our last 1 Universal Month. Assess world events through that lens. Think about the themes that were born during that time. It was a powerful, angry month, and justifiably so- there was a lot to be mad about. But in April, we are called to shift this energy into a more compassionate state. This doesn't mean we stop caring or championing the causes that stepped firmly into the limelight. Instead, it means we assess how we handled ourselves. It means we take honest inventory about where there were rewards and also failures. We take stock, wisely glean the lessons accordingly, rethinking and revamping our approaches, releasing what sits heavily within us, preparing to level up and launch the next phase in May.

  • We may not yet be able to fully return to the world of travel, but we can reenact and reap the benefits of traveling in our minds and hearts. Watch international movies or TV shows. Read books that take you on a mental journey to a far-away land. Take in the views on live webcams around the world. For example, check out this incredible Icelandic live webcam footage of the shield volcano Fagradalsfjall erupting after a 6,000-year slumber. There is something powerfully mesmerizing and elevating in watching the Earth giving birth to new land.

  • Both the 5 and 9 know how to shrug things off and roll with the punches. They prize expansive and flexible thinking, mindsets, and outlooks. Now is the time to get beyond our ego-self, adopt a higher perspective, and let things roll. Peace emerges when we release control, call forth the wisdom of our Higher Selves, and step into the flow. We only need to get ourselves out of the way and let it happen.

  • Go do something fun that affirms the joy of being alive. Even better? Go do something that spreads that joy and love to others. Both the 5 and 9 understand that all we really have is the present moment, so focus on spreading kindness and zest for life right here and now. Just keep a little practicality in your plans to keep it balanced!

Above all else, we as a collective should bear in mind that May is a brand new 1 Universal Month. It brings opportunities for fresh starts and new beginnings. We have the chance to wipe the slate clean, free ourselves from old baggage, and look ahead to the future. The 5’s changeable nature combined with the 9’s penchant for endings means there is an enhanced possibility for unresolved issues to come to a conclusion. This can be a powerfully transformative time for many of us. Why would we want to muddy that opportunity by harboring old grudges, feeling and re-feeling memories of the past that keep us imprisoned and separated from the possibilities of tomorrow? Let's not waste this chance, folks. Practice the art of letting go. Break ties with the past. Be thankful for the lessons. Imagine how we can be better than before. Let the soil rest, for when May comes, we plant anew.

In other words, this is our chance to shake off 2020 once and for all.
Let’s try not to mess it up, people!

Quotes for the 9/5 combo:

"The biggest reason for our existence is to feel the rapture of being alive."
― Lebo Grand

"Whenever you are angry, take a beautiful object in your house and smash it to pieces. The pity you feel for what you have done is silly compared to what you are doing to your mind: taking a sacred moment to be alive and desecrating it by being angry."
― Kamand Kojouri

"Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness."
― Steve Maraboli

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."
― Mahatma Gandhi, All Men are Brothers: Autobiographical Reflections

"By expanding your views, you expand your reality."
― Talismanist Giebra, Talismanist: Fragments of the Ancient Fire. Philosophy of Fragmentism Series.
